Internship Programme Opportunities at Cape Winelands Municipality 2019

The Cape Winelands District Municipality is calling on qualified residents to send in their applications for its several internship programmes for 2019. Formerly known as the Boland District Municipality, Cape Winelands is located in the Boland region of Western Cape.

Cape Winelands Internship Programmes 2019

The District Municipality of Cape Winelands is currently offering a number of internship programmes to interested parties in their region. These internship offerings are listed below along with their respective details:

Disaster Management Internship Programme

This internship programme runs for a period of two years and carries a yearly stipend of R72,000. The selected applicant will take on the responsibility of providing assistance to the Disaster Management Division with a range of administrative and logistic works such as:

  • Assisting in daily operational tasks
  • Disaster Management reporting
  • Coordinating with Disaster Management role-players and officers about issues or events with the scope of the Disaster Management
  • Execution of awareness and training programmes

Communications Internship

This internship programme runs for a duration of one year with an all-inclusive annual stipend of R72,000. The selected intern will provide assistance to the Communication at Events Division by performing the following tasks:

  • Represent and manage the Division
  • Photography and organizing photo archives
  • Booking management and stock control of Branding Items
  • Provide reports on faulty items
  • Perform general office tasks in line with events management (e.g.  guest registration, preparing media packs and invitations ahead of interviews
  • Provide creative write ups for social media posts and web content

Erratum Community Service Health Practitioner Internship

The internship programme is one year commitment with an all-inclusive annual stipend of R120,000.  The selected health practitioner intern is expected to deliver effective and dependable health services in line with the National Health Act. 2003 and organizational statutory and policy requirements.

IDP and Administration Internship Programme

The selected IDP & Administration intern will commit to a two-year agreement and receive an annual stipend of R72,000. Tasks and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Carry out management-related tasks
  • Conduct compliance-related tasks
  • Implement administrative and procedural requirements
  • Ensure development and strategic goals are met by promoting participation across different departments

Career Options

The internship programme does not guarantee employment at the end of the programme.

Requirements or Eligibility

Here are the minimum requirements for each of the internship:

For Disaster Management Internship applicants:

  • Completed qualification for Disaster Management or any related study
  • Owns driver’s license (Valid Code B)
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office applications
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English
  • Healthy and physically fit

For Community Service Environmental Health Practitioner applicants:

  • Completed a National Diploma in Environmental Health
  • Proof of active membership with the South African Health Professions Council
  • Valid driver’s license (Code B)
  • Fluent in at least two dialects in the Western Cape Province
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent project management, interpersonal and analytical skills

For Communication Internship applicants:

  • Obtained a National Diploma Public Relations or Bachelor’s Degree in Communications
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite and Windows Suite
  • Able to set up branding at events
  • Willing to work after hours and on weekends
  • Skilled in photography
  • Excellent writing and communication skills traditional and social media
  • Good eye for details
  • Able to work under pressure

For IDP and Administration Internship applicants:

  • Completed a National Diploma course in Internal Audit, Municipal Management, Performance Management, Public Management, Public Administration or any relevant qualification
  • Fluent in at least two dialects in the Western Cape Province
