The Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation functions as an independent public benefit organisation that involves itself in the creation of opportunities by promoting education and entrepreneurial development. Established by the Shanduka Group in 2004, the Foundation later on carried its founder’s name, Cyril Ramaphosa.
The foundation has remained an instrument for social change through its many initiatives. These social programmes include the Adopt-a-School Foundation, Black Umbrellas, Kagiso Shanduka Trust and the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET). With the help from its partner entities, the Foundation has made a profound contribution to South African economic and social development.
Cyril Ramaphosa Educational Trust Bursary Programme 2020
The Cyril Ramaphosa Educational Trust applies a unique approach in managing its educational programme. It also works to recruit programme participants that would typically get overlooked by other bursary organisations.
The CRET carefully screens candidates who are able to demonstrate great potential to grow and develop under the desired conditions backed by the right support system. Selected participants will have access to financial support, psychological and social grounding and mentorship.
Participants are required to attend rigorous holiday experiential programmes where they can acquire additional networking opportunities and soft skills training They also undergo personal development programmes and team building activities with support coming from a cohesive and positive family environment.
In addition, CRET alumni and senior students act as mentors to new students while some send financial contributions to the programme. Others have even gone ahead and established corporate bursary programmes on their own.
