Department of Water and Sanitation Bursary Programme 2020

The Department of Water and Sanitation is inviting undergraduate and post-graduate students to apply and possibly qualify for financial support under its DWS Bursary Programme for 2020.

As South Africa’s custodian of its water resources, the Department of Water and Sanitation is primarily responsible for the policy creation and execution in this sector.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) Bursary Programme 2020

The awarding of the DWS Bursary is based on balanced and objective consideration of the following criteria:

  • Scholastic performance
  • Financial incapacity
  • Race and gender
  • The need of the Department in line with specific qualifications

Successful candidates will have access to the following benefits:

Career Options

Bursars who complete their qualification are required to join the DWS’s Graduate Programmes under the Department’s Water Learning Academy.

Requirements or Eligibility

To qualify for the bursary, applicants meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Preference will be given to impoverished and impoverished  candidates from poor rural communities
  • Must be pursuing or intending to pursue any of the above-mentioned fields of study in an accredited tertiary institution
  • Willing to commit to at least three years in the Water Learning Academy

Opening and Closing Dates

The DWS Bursary Programme 2020 opened applications on 1 May 2019 and will close by 31 August 2019.

Late submissions will not be accepted. Applicants who do not receive feedback three months beyond this date should consider their application as unsuccessful.
