The Pupil Geomatics Officer Learnership Programme is offered by the South African Department of Rural Development and Land Reform. Established in 2009, the Department’s main objective is to ensure the economic and social development of rural communities of South Africa. It is also mandated to make sure that people living in rural areas have access to the same benefits as people in urban areas do.
One major endeavor of the DRDLR is the Comprehensive Rural Development Programme. The purpose of this project is to implement optimal and lasting agrarian reforms in rural areas of the South African nation. Another objective of the programme is the improvement of roads, food production, roads and more. The third objective is land reform based on redistribution, restitution and land tenure.
Pupil Geomatics Officer Learnership at DRDLR
The Department is calling on interested parties to apply for its Pupil Geomatics Officer Learnership Programme. Selected participants will be under the National Geomatics Management Services. Positions are available in the following locations:
- Mpumalanga
- Limpopo
- North West
- Gauteng
- Free State
- Western Cape
- Eastern Cape
- North West
- Kwazulu-Natal
- Northern Cape
The Pupil Geopolitics Officer Learnership Programme runs for 24 months. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend amounting to R3,990.
Participants of the learnership programme will be trained to perform the following roles:
- Examining diagrams, general plans and draft sectional plans
- Disseminating topographical and cadastral information
- Retrieval, analysis and distribution of survey data to clients
- Capturing and managing alpha and numerical data
- and more
Requirements or Eligibility
Only applicants with the following credentials will be considered for review:
- Completed Grade 12 or Senior Certificate with Physical Science
- Obtained at least Level 4 or Standard Grade C or Higher Grade D
Skills required:
- Computer literate
- Good team player
- Good presentation and communication skills
- Highly organized
