FEDHASA Bursary Programme 2019 – 2020

The Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) is calling on interested parties to send in their applications for its upcoming FEDHASA Bursary Programme for 2019. More details about this bursary opportunity below.

Established in 1949, FEDHASA officially represents the country’s hospitality industry duly recognized by the South African government. Its main thrust is to develop the hospitality industry promoting, enhancing and advocating the sustainable growth and improvement of the hospitality-trading sector of South Africa. The Association acts as the umbrella organization for restaurants hotels, caterers, conference centres, home hosting establishments (e.g. guest houses, B&Bs), self-catering accommodation, taverns, shebeens and clubs. This also includes trainers and suppliers, service providers and consultant to the hospitality industry.

FEDHASA Bursary Programme

The FEDHASA Bursary Programme is awarded to students who are pursuing or intending to pursue a career in the hospitality sector. The total bursary award amounts to R70 000 that will cover tuition expenses, thus, the funds go directly to the learning institution. FEDHASA reserves the right to withdraw the funds from the learning institution should the bursar fail to meet the conditions of the bursary programme.

Requirements or Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy the minimum requirements of the programme to qualify for the bursary programme.

  • Must have completed second year of studies or about to take final year of studies or its equivalent in other schools
  • Must be financially constrained to continue pursuing their studies.
  • A South African citizen.

Qualified applicants may apply by sending their application form together with the following supporting documents:

  • Transcript of academic performance
  • Recommendation letter from manager or lecturer
  • Letter of motivation
  • Proof of financial incapacity
  • CV
  • South African ID
