GCIS Internship Programmes for 2018 – 2019

The Government Communication and Information System of South Africa is in charge of delivering strategic communications of the government to the public. This includes influencing and setting adherence to established standards and policies, programmes and achievements of the government. In addition, they offer the GCIS Internship Programmes for 2018-2019, which are various internship jobs within this government institution designed to equip qualified individuals with important job skills.

GCIS Internship Programmes for 2018-2019

The Government Communication and Information System is in search of highly qualified people to become part of their internship programmes. The internships usually run for a duration of twenty four (24) months. Listed below are the current internship offerings:

All internship positions carry a R6747.75 monthly stipend. All applicants must be first time interns.

Career Options

GCIS does not guarantee full time placement within the organization upon successful completion of the 2-year internship programme.

Requirements or Eligibility

Applicants who meet the following basic requirements will be considered:

For Provincial Liaisons and Communication Monitoring and Evaluation Internships

  • Must have a relevant National Diploma Level 6
  • Must have obtained at least three (3) years  in the following fields of study: Communications, Journalism or Media Studies, or any SAQA recognised equivalent qualification
  • Knows basic computer operations and performing internet research
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Effective monitoring, planning, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Works well within a team or independently
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines

For Human Resource Management

  • Must have at least a National Diploma Level 6
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management (level 7)
  • Any relevant qualification (e.g. Management) recognised by SAQA
  • Must be a process driven, highly organized individual
  • Delivers under pressure in a team oriented working environment
  • Capable of meeting deadlines
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills
  • Self-motivated, highly focused
  • Possesses a good understanding of Human Resources analytics and HR principles, laws and practices

  • Only unemployed applicants who have never joined a internship programme in any capacity will be considered

  • Applicants are instructed to obtain and submit a completed Z83 form
  • Include all pertinent documents such as your comprehensive and updated CV, certified copies of qualifications and ID documents  (certification stamps obtained within last three months)
  • Shortlisted applicants will be subjected to a comprehensive background check (e.g. citizenship, criminal records check, credit records check, employment check)
  • Make sure to indicate the reference number of the internship
