IFRC SA Finance & Admin Internship 2022

The world’s most extensive humanitarian organization, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, or IFRC, is calling on suitable candidates to apply for its Finance and Admin Internship Programme intake for 2022. The IFRC is served by the Secretariat located in Geneva and has five regional offices operating in Panama City, Kuala Lumpur, Nairobi, Budapest and Beirut. In Southern Africa, the IFRC operates its Country Cluster offices in Pretoria, South Africa. The County Cluster then serves countries such as South Africa, Botswana, E-Swatini, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Angola, Zambia and Lesotho.

IFRC SA Finance & Admin Internship

As a Finance & Admin Intern, it is the primary responsibility of the successful candidate to analyze accounts and financial management of the Southern Africa Cluster office. Other duties and responsibilities of the intern include but are not limited to:

  • Collect payments and receipts from the Coda system
  • Ensure receipt of National societies working advance checks with pertinent documents and proper authorization
  • Collect refundable VAT elements into Coda
  • Ensure effective office petty cash management
  • Load payments on banking platforms
  • Ensure receipt of signed payment requests as well as supplier payments for processing
  • Provide support with communicating and enforcing financial policies and procedures
  • Keep asset inventories and finance filing system up-to-date
  • Ensure effective management of designated space for storage for Admin Unit archives and records
  • Prepare and keep track of finance files

Who should apply?

The ideal candidate must be able to meet role’s minimum eligibility requirements to qualify for the role:

  • Holds a BCom degree in Accounting or Finance Management
  • Possesses at least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Must have a background working with an international NGO
  • Good computer skills
  • Possesses a general knowledge of Red Cross activities
  • Proactive, highly motivated, and responsible
  • Good written and spoken English skills
