Jones & Wagener is calling on qualified and interested parties to send in their applications to qualify for its Engineering Bursary Scheme for 2019.
Jones & Wagener is a well-established consultancy firm of professional scientists and engineers. Founded in 1966, the company’s main services were Geotechnical and Structural Engineering but later on expanded to Mine Infrastructure and Tailings and Waste. To date, the company has worked on environmental issues with the founding its Environmental Engineering, Sciences and Management services.
Jones and Wagener Engineering Bursary Scheme
The Jones & Wagener Engineering Bursary Scheme offers a limited number of bursary awards to students pursuing BSc in Civil Engineering or B Eng at a recognized South African universities. At the very least, the bursary will cover the following:
- University tuition fees
- Textbook allowance
Awarding of the bursaries is determined by academic performance, financial incapacity to study further and considerations laid out by the company. As required by Black Economic Empowerment, the company will award the bursary to the SA’s population composition.
While the programme does not offer permanent employment once the bursary support has ended, bursary recipients are required to work in the company equal to how long bursary support was in place.
Requirements or Eligibility
To qualify, applicants must meet the programme’s minimum requirements listed below:
- Must be studying a BSc Civil Engineering or B Engineering at a South African tertiary institution
- Grade 12 scholars
- Must be financially incapable to continue studying
- Must have an exemplary academic performance
- Must be amenable to provide vacation work during the November/December break

Opening and Closing Dates
Deadline for submission of bursary applications is on 31 July 2019. Be sure to send your application on time as late submissions will not be accepted.
