Lonmin Bursary Programmes for Academic Year 2019

Lonmin is a major producer of metals that are used for various industrial applications. These important Platinum Group Metals, or PGMs, are essential components in catalytic converters used in internal combustion as well as in jewelries and investments. Equally important by-products of its PGM mining include copper, cobalt, chrome, nickel and gold. Moreover, Lormin aims to do its business in the most environmentally sustainable and responsible manner possible. In line with the latter, it runs the Lonmin Bursary Programme on a regular basis.

Lonmin Bursary Programme 2019

The Lonmin Bursary Progaramme for 2019 is designed to provide financial assistance to deserving students as they pursue any of the following recognized areas of study:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Mining Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering (High Voltage)
  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgy
  • Mine Survey
  • Geology
  • IT Engineering
  • Pharmacy
  • Human Resources
  • Medical Doctor

The Lonmin Bursary Programme 2019 will cover the following school-related expenditures

  • Full tuition expenses
  • Monthly allowance
  • Book fees
  • Meals and accommodation
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • A personal computer by the time the bursar reaches 2nd year
  • A monthly allowance
  • Tutoring support

Career Options

Upon completion of the Bursar’s studies, they are required to provide eight weeks of vacation work for each year of bursary coverage. While top performers may stand to receive an employment offer, it is still dependent on the company’s current workforce requirements.

Requirements or Eligibility

The Lonmin Bursary Programme of 2019 is looking for candidates who are:

  • Students who have obtained at least a C average or 60%
  • Grade 12 students who have taken up Math and Science subjects
  • South African citizens
