Established in 1996 as directed by the Marketing of Agricultural Proclamation Act No. 47 of the same year, the National Agricultural Marketing Council helps in the creation of agricultural marketing policies in line with the MAP Act’s objectives. These strategic objectives include improving market access for all industry players and promoting effective marketing schemes of agricultural products. In addition, the NAMC works on optimizing earnings from agricultural product exports, as well enhancing the feasibility of the agricultural industry. It is important to note however, that the NAMC is primarily concerned with policy making and not with the actual selling and marketing of agricultural commodities.
The NAMC is a statutory organization under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Their mandate is contained in their four core divisions which include Agricultural Trusts, Agribusiness Development, Markets and Economic Research Centre, and Statutory Measures.
The NAMC employs the best talents around and provides them full exposure in the agricultural sector, as well as continuous support and development in their chosen career path. Moreover, all their employees are actually required to study further and commit to trainings and seminars. The organization places a high value on exemplary work ethic as much as they are committed to provide a high level of job satisfaction.
