The National Metrology Institute of South Africa or NMISA is inviting deserving and qualified students to submit an application and possibly get bursary assistance through its annual Bursary Programme offering for 2021.
The office of the NMSI seeks to provide the South African industry, safety and health sectors with specific measurements. Together with the other offices under the DTI, they manage the national measurement units and standards to desirable international standards as well as communicating traceability to the South African industry.
The National Metrology Institute of South Africa Bursary Programme
The NMISA offers post-graduate and undergraduate bursary programmes at any university recognized by the South African government. Once a successful bursar completes the course, he/she is required to work the number of years equivalent to the years sponsored by NMISA.
The NMISA bursary programme covers the following expenses:
- Tuition and registration fees
- Book fees
- Lodging expenses
- Expenses on other necessary requirements
Bursary offers are awarded to students who intend to pursue a career or are currently studying in the following recognized fields:
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Materials Science
Who should apply?
Before you apply be sure to check the following minimum requirements if you are eligible:
- A full-time undergraduate student attending a recognized South African university pursuing a qualification in any of the fields of the study mentioned above
- Must be able to provide results from 11th grade along with a progress report from 12th grade
- Exemption certificate from 12th grade (with acceptable symbols)
- Applicant must be a South African citizen
- Amenable to rendering vacation work
What is the selection process?
The selection of beneficiaries is based primarily on the applicant’s academic performance and financial incapacity to continue schooling.
