Non-Aligned Movement Scholarship 2020

Founded in 1961, the Non-Aligned Movement is an organization of states that are non-members of any of the major power blocs. The group has 120 members (as of 2012) and makes up close to two-thirds of the UN member states and 55% of the world’s population. Member states are mostly categorized developing economies to Third World countries. To foster brotherhood and goodwill among its member states, the Non-Aligned Movement Scholarship was started.

Non-Aligned Movement Scholarship Programme 2020

The NAM Scholarship Programme was established on 10 January 2017 under the approval of Azerbaijan president, Ilham Aliyev. It is a scholarship programme that selects 40 candidates annually to study in any leading Azerbaijan university.

The scholarship programme chooses candidates from any educational level, including:

  • Preparatory level
  • Undergraduate level
  • Graduate-level
  • Doctoral level
  • Residency/General medicine programme

This year, the NAM Scholarship Programme will cover the following expenses:

  • Tuition expenditures
  • Accommodation, meals, utilities (amounts to 800 AZN)
  • Economy class airfare (international flight)
  • Visa/registration fees
  • Medical insurance

Requirements or Eligibility

Here are the basic requirements of the scholarship programme:

  • A citizen of a NAM-affiliated country
  • Residency and graduate programme candidates must be younger than 35
  • General medicine and undergraduate programme applicants must be younger than 30
  • Must be nominated by state entities of their respective countries to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Public Affairs
