Certified Top Employer Richards Bay Minerals, or RBM, is calling on suitable individuals to submit an application to qualify for its Bursary Programme offering for 2020 – 2021.

Richards Bay Minerals is part of the Rio Tinto Group and is a globally recognized mineral processing and sand mining company. It is one of the most prolific producers of titanium minerals, zircon and high purity pig iron. RBM’s principal operations are in a long strip of sand dunes abundant with minerals located north off Richards Bay calle Zulti North mine.

The Richards Bay Minerals Bursary opportunity is offered top-performing student scholars looking for bursary support to further their studies. Bursaries are awarded to full-time students pursuing their qualification in the following fields:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Financial Accounting
  • Digital Marketing
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Chemistry
  • Correctional Studies

Who should apply?

Applicants must satisfy these minimum requirements in order to be eligible to apply for bursary support:

  • Completed matric and have taken core Maths and Science (preferably L6 pass)
  • Level 5 English proficiency
  • Must have been accepted to a university to pursue a recognized discipline or have completed the first year of university studies taking up a recognized course
  • A South African citizen

Applicants who meet the minimum eligibility requirements and would like to apply for bursary support will need to submit the following documents:

  • A comprehensive CV
  • A copy of a valid ID
  • Copy of matric results
  • Copy of university acceptance
  • Transcript of records from the first year of studies
