Established in September 1945 during the post-war rebuilding efforts of the South African government, the South African Bureau of Standards was put to the task of setting common and agreed-upon standards in the manufacture of products in the country. Division: Group Strategy
The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Recommend courses of action that will improve customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Use analytical skills to generate comparison reports and communicate findings to concerned parties in financial or business management
- Perform research as per information requests and make sure standards are compliant with customer requests
- Document technical requirements for the development of solutions
- Gather and present progress reports at site visits and business initiatives as needed
- Provide assistance in preparing proposals and presentations for prospective leads
- Regularly monitor, manage, and update records and databases
- Perform desktop research
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Ensure all client requests are directed to the line manager
- Follow through customer concerns, complaints, etc.
- Compile and submit reports, method files, and time sheets on time

Business Solutions and Advisory Services
Division: Standards
The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure course materials are in line with SAQA, SETA, and SAATCA requirements
- Employ the use of questionnaires, reports, interviews, etc. to identify training needs
- Manage document compilation and submissions
- Perform processing of applications, verification, and quotations as needed
- Collect accepted quotations, purchase orders, JDE account details, track registration progress, proof of payment details, etc from the operational database and finance platforms
- Create purchase or sales order, proforma invoices, and process client GRV
- Assist trainers with administrative tasks
- Facilitate and provide logistical support during training sessions
- Organize venues for meetings and training activities
- Make sure all outstanding documents are processed and filed accordingly
- Maintain optimum performance within the team
Certification Internship
Division: Certification
The primary role of the Certification Intern is provide assistance with external and internal certification customer and to ensure adherence to legislative guidelines. Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limtied to the following:
- Provide administrative assistance to the Certification Department
- Ensure timely uploading of audit data into client folders
- Compile AB packs
- Evaluate CrtF 710 tracking tool to identify gap
- Compile agreements
- Carry out ad hoc administrative duties as needed
- Take part in audit archives

Compliance, Risk, and Legal Services Internship
Division: Legal
The primary responsibility of this role is to carry out general support functions in line with keeping service delivery optimized: The other duties and responsibilities of the successful applicants are as follows:
- Gather and compile input as needed
- Provide ad hoc legal and paralegal assistance
- Draft legal correspondence underline management supervision
- Conduct research on documents, judgements, and legal articles
- Ensure departmental documents are accurate and updated and sent to appropriate stakeholders as needed
- Carry out departmental processes in line with SABS’ standards
- Work closely with stakeholders to manage their expectations accordingly

Content Solutions, Publishing and Licensing Internship
Division: Digital Transformation and Information
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide administrative support to ensure service delivery is optimal. The other duties include, and but are not limited to:
- Provide support with administrative tasks
- Help out with subscription records management
- Commit to prescribed service standards and provide world-class customer service
- Perform at optimum best within the team
Minimum requirements:
- Holds a National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, Information Management, or any relevant qualification

Customer Engagement Internship
Division: Digital Transformation and Innovation
The main purpose of the role is to deliver general administrative support to the Customer Engagement team.

Facilities – HVAC Technician Internship
Division: Finance
Duties and responsibilities
- Implement prescribed preventive maintenance approach within execution activities, recommended safety precautions, and physical and people resource requirements
- Carry out quality control from the maintenance procedure to completion
- Provide administrative support as needed by Engineering & Plant Maintenance
- Maintain optimum performance within the team
Facilities – Mechanical Fitter
Division: Finance
- Implement prescribed preventive maintenance approach within execution activities, recommended safety precautions, and physical and people resource requirements
- Carry out required maintenance e.g. inspection, testing, overhauling, calibration, etc.
- Provide administrative support as needed by Engineering & Plant Maintenance
- Maintain optimum performance within the team
Minimum qualifications
- Must hold a National Diploma or Diploma in Fitting or diploma in Machining, or Mechanical Fitting Trade Test of any relevant field
Finance Internship
Division: Finance
Duties and responsibilities
- Collect invoices in the JDE financial system across all revenue streams
- Process credit on customer accounts as well as draft memos with support documents regarding credit note requests
- Follow through open sales orders
- Present audit information to external and internal auditors on schedule
- Review Approval Board minutes
- Keep track of cancellations and legal collections to ensure timely stoppage of the billing process
- Study and update end-to-end billing process
- Provide ad hoc admin support as needed by the Finance team
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliation and financial reports
- Execute fixed asset capitalization in
- Move fixed asset ledger to ensure capitalization
- Prepare end-of-month and end-of-year financial statements and process
- Working with financial reporting systems and accounting system applications
- Comply with the organization’s service standards
- Maintain optimum performance within finance environment
Human Capital Internship
Division: Human Capital
Duties and responsibilities
- Act as first line of support providing advice via phone or email as needed
- Facilitate the interview process such as scheduling, communicating with candidates and line managers, preparing interview packets, etc
- Conduct background verification on potential hires (e.g. credit checks, reference, criminal records)
- Create and present Human Capital letters such as transfer letters, bursary letters, appointment letters, etc.)
- Compile and aggregate interview records and new hire files for job seekers
- Facilitate on-boarding of new hires on the first day of employment
- Gather learner results together with training records
- Document training requests and provide assistance with selecting providers

ICT Intership
Division: Digital Transformation and Innovation
Duties and responsibilities
- Gather and provide input to reports
- Set up workstations
- Perform software installation and configuration
- Guide users when operating equipment

Marketing Communications Internship

- Provide the Marketing department with administrative support as needed

Duties and responsibilities
- Provide the Editing Services department with administrative support as needed
- Compile, aggregate, and present input to reports
- Keep documents pertaining to stakeholder requirements up-to-date and ensure receipt by the appropriate parties
- Perform e-reading, editing, proof-reading, number comparison, and preparation of master copies in line with the Organizations quality requirements and standards
- Make sure editing requests are compliant with client requirements including time frames
- Take responsibility of editing workflow via the Livelink database and keep SABStan records updated
