SAPS: SASSETA Internship Programmes 2022

The South African Police Service is calling on suitable individuals to send in their application to qualify for its multi-discipline SASSETA Internship Programmes for 2022. Before submitting your application, make sure to go over the role description and minimum eligibility requirements of the internship you wish to join.

 

About the South African Police Service

Formed in 1995, the South African Police Service is the country’s national police force. With 1,154 polices stations distributed in its provincial borders, the SAPS is responsible for preventing, fighting, and investigating crime, maintaining public order, protecting and securing the citizenry, just to name a few.

 

SAPS: SASSETA Internship Programmes

The South African Police Service, through the Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority, is accepting applications for its  Workplace Integrated Learning internships which is also a project of the National  Skills Development  Strategy and the National Human Resource Development Strategy.

Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend, the amount of which will be determined by SASSETA.

Here are the current internship programmes including the number of open positions, duties, and academic qualification requirements for each internship.

Human Resources Management Administrative Internship (8 open posts)

The main function of the HRM Intern is to effectively manage all HRM functions such as:

  • Update leave systems and registers
  • Process filed leaves
  • Filing system management
  • HRM register management
  • Receive and process applications for transfer
  • Service termination processing
  • Ensure data integrity
  • Help out with generating and sending out official office communications such as memos, reports, and letters

Qualifications

  • Must hold a degree or 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas of discipline
    • Human Resource Management
    • Business Administration
    • Public Administration
    • Office Management and Technology
    • Administrative Management
    • Registered with the National Learner Record Database as NQF Level 6 (or higher)
    • Preferably with knowledge in operating a computer

Supply Chain Management Admin Internship (9 open posts)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with procurement/acquisition of good and services
  • Effectively manage all movable government property
  • Facilitate efficient maintenance and coordination of vehicle fleet
  • Take responsibility in the control and administration of physical resources such as utilization and distribution
  • Provide support in all areas of Facility Management (SAPS facilities, buildings, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Must hold a degree or 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas of discipline
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Logistics
    • Transport Management
    • Registered with the National Learner Record Database as NQF Level 6 (or higher)
    • Preferably with knowledge in operating a computer

Financial Management Services Admin Internship (8 open posts)

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support registering correspondence including relevant accounting transactions
  • Collect and organize monthly payroll certificates
  • Verify overtime claims
  • Manage safekeeping of supporting documents from all transactions
  • Provide assistance in departmental debt recovery within SAPS
  • Assist with expenditure and budgeting
  • Perform administrative tasks in managing financial losses
  • Manage safekeeping of records

Qualifications

  • Must hold a degree or 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas of discipline:
    • BCom Accounting, Accounting Sciences in Financial Accounting
    • BCom in Financial Management
    • Business Management
    • Business Administration
    • Registered with the National Learner Record Database as NQF Level 6 (or higher)

Who should apply?

In addition to the qualification requirements, these general requirements must be met:

  • A South African citizen with no pending cases or criminal records
  • Holds a National Senior Certificate its equivalent (NCV L4)
  • Currently unemployed and never been employed or interned  in a relevant field being applied for
  • Must be a resident of Gauteng
  • Applicants may only apply up to three positions (one application per position)
  • If shortlisted, must submit to a fingerprint scanner

How do I apply?

Eligible applicants who wish to apply will need to download and fill out the application form, attach the required documents, and send it by post to the corresponding mailing address.

  • The particulars of the internship, as well as the reference number, must show on the application form
  • Curriculum vitae and proof of residence
  • Emailed or faxed applications are unacceptable
  • Submit certified copies of the following documents (not older than 3 months):
    • South African ID
    • Senior certificate along with all post-school credentials
    • Make sure to limit submissions to certificates of qualifications; do not submit statements of results
