Standard Bank SA is inviting qualified graduates who are interested to submit an application and qualify for its upcoming Commercial Banking Graduate Programme that leads to permanent employment within the company.
The Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd. is a major financial services group and considered by far as the biggest lender in Africa in terms of assets. Founded in 1862 by a group of businessmen headed by John Paterson, the bank was initially called the Standard Bank of British South Africa. Port Elizabeth was the site of the first branch which soon saw several mergers with other banks e.g. Colesberg Bank, Commercial Bank of Port Elizabeth, Fauresmith Bank and British Kaffrarian Bank.
In 2016, Standard Bank recorded a revenue amounting to$8.61 billion and a net income of $1.54 with a workforce of 54, 767.
Standard Bank Commercial Banking Graduate Programme 2021
The successful candidate will be providing support to the company’s Commercial Banking initiatives, particularly serving a client base consisting of business organizations in Personal and Business Banking with a turnover amounting from ZAR300 M to ZAR1.3bn. In addition, support is also given to companies in the energy, mining as well as the renewable energy sector (as being under the energy sector). The Bank also serves companies in the agricultural sector.
As part of the Commercial Banking Graduate Programme, the incumbent will gain exposure to the following:
- Striking deals and undergoing valuation training
- Developing advisor skills
- Undergoing training on effective research methods
- Gathering financial reports
- Preparing accurate analysis and reports regarding the impact of Natural Resources on other supported sectors
Who should apply?
Applicants must be able to meet the programme’s eligibility requirements as shown below:
- Completed a BCom or BSc Honours degree in the following disciplines:
- Agricultural Science
- Must have a no more than 12 months of qualification
- A South African citizen
