Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) Bursary Programme 2020

The Transport Education Training Authority, or TETA, is now accepting applications for its annual TETA Bursary Programme. The programme covers studies in line with the transport sector. More details about TETA and its bursary programme offering can be found below.

The TETA is one of the South African government’s Services Education Training Authority’s vocational skills training organizations. Its primary function is to create and manage bursary offerings, learnerships, internships  and other unit-based skills within its area of jurisdiction.

TETA Bursary Programme 2019

The TETA’s Bursary Programme is one of the organization’s skills development initiatives aimed at addressing critical and scarce skills in the transportation sector. It is awarded to qualified unemployed learners who are studying or planning to study at recognized aviation schools, diving schools and accredited Higher Education Institutions and Technical and Vocational Education and Training.

TETA funding is only available to students pursuing the following courses:

  • National Diploma or (N4-N6), Advanced Diploma, BTech or BDegree in the following courses
    • Electronic/Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Logistics Management
    • Road Transport Management
    • Supply Chain Management (including Storage, Warehouse and Distribution
    • Transport Economics
    • Nautical or Maritime Studies
  • B Degree in Aeronautical Engineering
  • B Degree in Maritime Law
  • Commercial Pilot Licensse
  • Masters Degree in any Transport Related course
  • Instructor’s Rating
  • Instrument Rating
  • ATPL (Hour Building)
  • CPL with ATPL course subjects (Frozen ATPL)
  • Commercial Drivers (Class II to IV)

The bursary award will provide funding for tuition expenses, accommodation (on or off campus) costs, meal and book expenses. In addition, the bursary is intended for impoverished and previously disadvantaged youth (35 years old and below), females and people living with disability.

Requirements or Eligibility

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for the bursary funding:

  • Have completed matric or a current Grade 12 student
  • Intending to pursue transport-related studies mentioned above in 2020
  • Currently registered at accredited higher education institution or TVET college

Application forms must be accompanied by supporting documents listed below:

  • Certified ID copy of applicant
  • Certified ID copy/copies of parents or guardians (if applicable)
  • Certified copies of certifications or qualifications
  • Latest academic results
  • For pilots, their license or PPL
  • If not currently enrolled – proof of registration or admission to an accredited school
  • Proof of income for employed parents or affidavit if unemployed
  • Quotation of fees, accommodations, books etc.
  • Proof of accreditation from relevant body/authority (private school students only)
