It was established in April 1, 1990 as a limited company with the privatization of government-owned South African Transport Services. Transnet Commercial Disciplines Bursary Programme
In line with the company’s human capital development initiative, Transnet offers its Commercial Disciplines Bursary scheme to deserving students. This is also consistent with Transnet’s efforts to address its skills need in order to support the company’s business strategies.
Bursary support is given to students pursuing any of the fields of studies listed below:
- Safety Management
- Informatics or Information Technology
- Transport Management or Logistics
- Risk Management
- Data or Computer Management
- Digital Media
- Actuarial Science
Transnet allows students to choose the South African university they want to attend.
The bursary programme will cover the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- Book expenditures
- Meal and Boarding expenses
- Experiential training
Who should apply?
The ideal candidate must be able to satisfy these minimum qualifications:
- A Grade 12 learner with exemplary academic performance and achieved a minimum of 5 APS in Mathematics, English and Physical Science
- A South African student
What is the selection process?
The Transnet Bursary Department will shortlist the applications based on the following:
- Academic performance (tertiary or secondary level education)
- Shortlisted applicants will receive an interview invitation that will be conducted in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Bloemfontein and Durban
- Final selection will be based on the interview results. academic results and medical fitness
