UNDP Wellness Programme Internship 2019

The United Nation Development Programme has a presence in nearly 170 countries. It works in conjunction with member states in implementing initiatives in easing poverty and reducing exclusion and inequality. They provide assistance to countries in developing policies, institutional capabilities, partnering abilities, leadership skills, and building resilience for sustained results. In South Africa, the UNDP provides support in accelerating the region’s progress towards reaching these goals in addition to generating employment. The UNDP Wellness Internship Programme is one of such many initiatives.

UNDP Wellness Programme Internship 2019

The UNDP Wellness Programme Internship seeks to improve the quality of life of all its staff including their families. This encompasses helping them cope with the adverse impact of daily work as well as their personal problems. The idea behind the programme is promoting a healthy lifestyle and how to lower or prevent the serious health conditions later in life. Here, they are receive education about stress, nutrition, depression, HIV/AIDS, violence,gambling, financial management, drug abuse and healthy eating.

The selected intern is expected to perform the following:

  • Provide assistance in organizing Wellness programmes or events
  • Help in the production of various promotional materials for the programme
  • Maintain referral partners contact data up to date
  • Provide assistance preparing and updating minutes of Wellness Committee meetings
  • Make sure male and female condoms are in always in supply the various UN agencies
  • Perform other tasks as needed

Requirements or Eligibility

  • Must have a great English speaking and writing acumen
  • Good presentation skills
  • Possesses good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be knowledgeable in different computer applications including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Good with analytical and research work
  • Can work well independently as well as in a team
  • Must be sensitive to national, cultural and political differences
  • Must be comfortable working in multicultural environments
  • Must be able to adhere to the core values of integrity, respect for diversity, planning and organizing and teamwork

In terms of educational qualification, the internship requires applicants to be:

  • Currently pursuing graduate degree studies in Psychology, Social Work or other allied fields
  • A registered member of the South African Council for Social Service Profession or the Health Professions Council of South Africa
  • Well acquainted with issues about confidentiality
  • Knowledgeable about HIV/AIDS
