Vodacom is calling on suitable and deserving students who are interested in submitting an application and qualifying for the company’s Bursary Programme offering in South Africa. For more details about the bursary such as minimum entry requirements, bursary amount or submission deadlines, read on.

Vodacom started in South Africa and has grown into a major communications giant on the continent today. The company provides a broad array of communication services encompassing voice, messaging, mobile, data, as well as a suite of financial and converged services. Vodacom currently serves over 103 million subscribers.

Vodacom’s mobile network operations include the DRC, Tanzania, Mozambique, Kenya and Lesotho. This means that Vodacom’s mobile network each covers a land area with a combined population of over 284 million.

Vodafone is the majority owner of Vocadom and is one of the top communication companies in terms of revenue.

Vodacom South Africa Bursary Programme

In line with Vodacom’s commitment to resolving South Africa’s ICT skills shortage, the company awards fifty promising and deserving students each year with bursary support to further their studies where there are determined shortage in skills. Since its inception in 1999, the Vodacom South Africa Bursary Programme has provided over 1,000 bursaries.

Applicants who are pursuing their qualifications in the following areas of discipline are eligible for bursary support:

Engineering and Operations

  • Electronic Engineering or Electrical engineering
  • University of technology degrees or diplomas in relevant areas of study

Information Technology

  • BSc in Computer Engineering
  • BSc in Computer Science
  • Information Systems
  • University of technology degrees or diplomas in relevant areas of study

Who should apply?

Applicants must be able to satisfy these minimum eligibility criteria to apply:

  • Must be a full-time student pursuing any of the prescribed fields of study
  • Total annual household income must not be more than R150,000
  • Must be able to complete Grade 12 with exemption
  • Math and Science Higher Grade must not be lower than C
  • Not older than 25 years of age
  • Applicants already in their first year of tertiary study at a recognized university
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Applicants from previously disadvantaged groups will be given preference

Application Deadline?

The deadline for submission of applications is on 30 June 2020. If no feedback is sent by 30 November 2020, consider the application as unsuccessful.

Late or incomplete submissions are unacceptable.
